HOn3 D&RGW 212 Combine Passenger/BaggageCar MRGS kit #3212-1.
HOn3 D&RG, D&RGW (also RGS(early 216, 217)) Combine, Coach (Passenger) & Baggage Car, as built, D&RG(W) number 215, 38'6", unique, long lived prototype still running on the D&SNG. A brand new release, limited production availability. Correct Trucks (kit 5002A) are available, add them to your order, see separate product listing. For more information see Jim Vail's review in the Jan/Feb 2012 Narrow gauge Gazette.
This is a Laser cut wood, with cast resin roof, brass and plastic details. Cast resin prototypically correct clerestory roof included. The Prototype still exists, as a coach, running on the D&SNG in Durango, CO. This kit builds the early and late versions of the D&RG(W) Combine(s) (Passenger/Baggage) cars as operated from the 1880's onward. There were actually three (3) converted from Billmeyer & Small coaches in 1887, 215, 216 & 217. The last two (216 & 217) were sold to and operated on the RGS till wrecked in the 20's. Prototypically correct for four (4) versions of these car, depending on specific small detail changes. This kit builds a pre cupola version of all three (with correct roof); a post cupola version of 215 subsequently renumbered 212 and operated by the D&RGW and D&SNG until converted to a coach in 1996. There is no roof walk or ladders with this kit, those will be saved for a subsequent kit of the Pagosa Junction Caboose with cupola. Built up model is shown for reference, you are buying a kit for this car, see additional photographs. This is the first time this car has been offered in HO scale as a laser cut, wood kit. Brass models have been available. There are complete instructions included, but no trucks, couplers, paint or glue.
Trucks are available (PN 5002A) for $10.50, add them to your order, no extra added for shipping.
Not a quickie kit, craftsman quality, but easy and simple to assemble by the average kit builder.

Purchased this kid a few months ago and even though I have not build a wood Car kit of any kind, I went to work on it.
The instructions were thorough and easy to understand. Parts fit well and even though I made a couple unrepairable errors, I was so impresses with the kit, I reordered it and it arrived today.
I would recommend this kit and encourage the beginner who wants to have this car to take the leap and try it. Just be sure to read and understand the instructions.
